Blatant self-congratulations
posted Thursday, May 12, 2005 - 09:27 AM (#27228)
I am today of a very happy disposition and so I'll share my joy with you:

This morning, May 12th, at 02:13 CET, my wife delivered our second child. Another beautiful little girl, with all the requisite number of toes and fingers.

Alas, they are in Budapest and I'm in the UK and so I have to wait until Saturday to see my daughter.

I just wanted to share that with you all.

My 'big' girl is 3 years and a month and she has been helping Mummy today. We made sure that she was a part of the whole thing. We took her for the scans so she could see her little sister, encouraged her to 'talk' to the baby, etc. About three months ago she told us that the baby had told her that she would be a girl. Very clever!

Given recent [goats.com] events...

I won't say "Give your new daughter a kiss for me".

But congratulations, and lucky you! You get to miss most of the first three to four months of no sleep at all... ;-)

Most people apparently like babies.

I mostly like other people's babies.

You'll notice that Phillip hasn't said a darn thing since his daughter was born. (different phrasing removed because... wowww bad context).

I won't miss that much of it! I'm going home tonight for two weeks and they're due home Monday/Tuesday. Then I'm back at work for 4 days and then another two weeks in Budapest.

Meanwhile someone has to look after our older daughter. It's been the <erase>out</erase>in-laws up until now and I'll take over from tomorrow.

The one saving grace for me is that my wife will, if able, breast feed. Those early mornings are easy. I sleep while baby feeds then I sit in the comfy chair, doing nothing, while baby bubbles away to her heart's content over my shoulder until one or other of us sleeps.

I believe very strongly in being a low maintenance Daddy.

I think that especially with the first child, there's a lot of learning involved that takes almost as much time as the actual parenting. Add to that some external work I've had to get done, and my usual lack of participation, and voila.

But, to get to the point, congratulations Mr. Vilmos.

Back at work after two weeks of just being Daddyka. We were very lucky, MkII was sleeping the whole night (6 hours) at just one week.

I've got some piccies, I just need to work out how to let you (goats:the forums/members) see them without making them accessibubble to every TDH on the planet with a computa.

I (kinda) promise to get something sorted. I've even got an empty domain with space that I can put it on to link and stuff.

Any advice on how to do this safely and I'll sort something out.

well, for something relatively simple. If you can use an htaccess file(some places let you do this, some don't you'll have to find out), you can just put a simple username and password in and post it here only for us.

Here's a site the presumably explains how to use htaccess:
http://www.javascriptkit.com/howto/htaccess3.shtml

Here's a site that will make you a password:
