Noticing some little bits of tidying, modifying, and tweaking around the goats.com website, i'm wondering about the fate of the Forums.

When i receive my Official Daily Email Of Goats Dispatchings (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays) it has hyperlinks to the old menu listings: archive, store, bios, forums, etc.

But i see this website no longer lists forums as a hyperlink from the front page. The only way for visitors to find their way deep into the depths of Goats Forums is by first reading the frontpage News and clicking through to the topic/comments, then navigating from there (theoretically) into other possible places such as the Pub and the Ring Of Fire.

Perhaps this is because the traffic had become too tiny here in the Forums? Nobody having any silly conversations around here lately? Not much action, so it looks like some of it might be mothballed during disuse?

I've enjoyed the random pleasantries of Goats fans on the message boards for so many years. I hope something equally frivolous and enjoyable can be found in the future, or perhaps some new incarnation of interest will emerge from these quiet cobwebbed corners.

POLL: What would encourage more viewers to hang out here in the back halls of the Goats.com website?

0% (0) reader-created informal contests and competitions

0% (0) Fan-art and fan-fiction

0% (0) clever (but possibly ridiculous) games/jokes/reader-enthusiasm

0% (0) large quantities of ethanol

0% (0) large amounts of sausage

60% (3) large quantities of both ethanol AND sausage

40% (2) various illicit drugs which provoke hallucinations and/or daydreams of sausage
5 people have voted in this poll. (This poll is not active.)

Forums are a dead form of communication. It took days for someone to say anything about their lack of link, I'm sure they will not be missed.

if you're looking for social interaction and community, i highly recommend twitter!

They will be missed, but probably only by antiquated, obsolete, outlying codgers such as myself. Thanks for providing many years of fine quality slashdotesque elegant forums for those of us who had fun along the way.

Took me 'til now to notice the missing link.

Twitter shits me though. Seeing only half of a conversation is annoying. Adding yet another person makes the volume unmanageable.

Mind you I think I have less free time now than I did a couple years back. I have my own company (watch for a tor rant at CES next year maybe even!) now and any left over time is allocated to the liver first, internet second.

Either I'm not part of 'all' or you're wrong, but on this side of my first quarter-century I think I can safely say I'm too young to be considered too old to die young.

That sentence maybe makes more sense because of the margaritas, but tequila logic has never let me down.
